Mike Tomlin on the Cowboys’ Players-Only Meeting: “I Think You’re Dead”
Asked about a reported Cowboys defensive meeting on New Heights, Tomlin said he respects player leadership but dislikes players-only meetings becoming public.

“I think you’re dead,” Mike Tomlin said.
On the October 14 episode of New Heights, Tomlin was asked about a report that the Cowboys’ defense had held a players-only meeting. His answer came with a distinction about player leadership.
“Dudes that’s been around me, they know I got nothing but respect for player leadership, and I embrace that and all of that stuff. But when you’re having players-only meetings, man, it doesn’t feel good,” Tomlin said.
His objection also concerned the meeting becoming public.
“Hey, if it did occur, I’d like to not hear about it. The fact that you hear about it is what makes it BS. You know what I mean?” Tomlin said.
“Like, if it was authentic and real, like, then it wouldn’t be reported. … And so, like, I’m not a fan.”
TSP’s take
Tomlin is a breath of fresh air on TV. With the Aikman-Buck standoff, I can’t help thinking he’s about to be involved in a major bidding war between ESPN and NBC, where he now works.
If Jerry Jones wants to win, he’ll offer Tomlin $30 million a season. Tomlin would still say no. Who needs that stress?
