An autographed Michael Jordan jersey worn in Game 2 of the 1998 NBA Finals has sold privately for $14 million, Hunt Auctions announced Monday.

The auction house identified the buyer as Miami real estate investor Ron Firman and called the price a record for basketball memorabilia. The transaction was a private treaty sale, rather than a public auction.

Jordan wore the red Chicago Bulls road jersey against the Utah Jazz on June 5, 1998. Chicago won the game to level the series and went on to win the championship in six games.

The sale adds to the high prices paid for items associated with Jordan’s final Bulls title. A Game 1 jersey from the same Finals sold for about $10.1 million in 2022, and a Game 3 jersey fetched about $12.3 million last month, the Associated Press reported through NBA.com.

The $14 million price does not set the broader record for a game-worn sports jersey. Babe Ruth’s 1932 World Series “called shot” jersey sold for $24.12 million in 2024.

The distinction matters when comparing the transaction with other major memorabilia sales: Hunt’s announced record is specific to basketball, and the Jordan item changed hands through a negotiated private sale.
