Jazz Chisholm Jr. wants Yankees return despite Game 3 benching
The second baseman hopes to remain in New York as he approaches free agency, after Anthony Volpe started in the Yankees’ elimination game.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. said he wants to return to the New York Yankees in 2027 despite being left out of the starting lineup for Wednesday’s ALDS elimination game against Tampa Bay.
“I do hope to be back,” Chisholm said in postgame comments reported by SNY. The 28-year-old is approaching free agency after joining New York from Miami at the 2024 trade deadline.
Aaron Boone started Anthony Volpe at second base in Game 3. Chisholm preferred a discussion about the decision: “I’d always prefer a conversation, so I would at least know what I’m walking into,” he told MLB.com.
Chisholm said he had enjoyed playing for the team he supported while growing up in the Bahamas. The Yankees’ season ended with a 4-3 loss that completed Tampa Bay’s ALDS sweep; no new contract with Chisholm has been announced.
