The Milwaukee Brewers are going to the World Series for the first time since 1982 after rallying from four runs down to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 6–4 on Thursday and complete a four-game sweep of the National League Championship Series.

Garrett Mitchell put Milwaukee ahead with a solo home run in the sixth inning. David Hamilton added another in the ninth, and Aaron Ashby finished with three scoreless innings as the Brewers eliminated the two-time defending World Series champions at Dodger Stadium.

A year after Los Angeles swept Milwaukee in the same round, the Brewers returned the result. They will face the winner of the Cleveland Guardians–Tampa Bay Rays series.

Mitchell puts Milwaukee ahead

Mitchell’s homer off left-hander Tanner Scott broke a 4–4 tie and completed Milwaukee’s comeback. His drive to center field supplied the lead the Brewers held for the rest of the night.

Milwaukee had erased the first half of its deficit in the fourth, when Jake Bauers’ ground-rule double scored Brice Turang and William Contreras. Hamilton’s RBI single in the fifth made it 4–3, and Bauers drew a bases-loaded walk from Alex Vesia to bring home the tying run.

Bauers finished with three RBIs. Hamilton went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, including his solo homer off Edwin Díaz with two outs in the ninth. That gave Ashby a two-run cushion for the final inning.

Seven scoreless innings after Ohtani’s homer

Los Angeles scored all four of its runs in the second. Andy Pages’ RBI single opened the scoring before Shohei Ohtani hit a three-run homer off Dustin May, giving the Dodgers a 4–0 lead.

Milwaukee kept Los Angeles off the scoreboard from the third inning onward. JoJo Romero earned the win with two scoreless innings, striking out three without a walk, before Ashby recorded the final nine outs.

Ashby allowed two hits and struck out three. The game ended when Kiké Hernández lined out to Jackson Chourio in left field, securing the sweep and Milwaukee’s return to the World Series after a 44-year wait.

Tyler Glasnow was charged with four runs in 4⅓ innings for Los Angeles. Scott took the loss after allowing Mitchell’s go-ahead homer. Milwaukee finished with five hits to the Dodgers’ eight.
