Iga Swiatek has ended her 2026 season after withdrawing from the Ningbo Open with a left thigh injury, the WTA reported Tuesday. The world No. 9 subsequently announced on Instagram that she would not play any more tournaments this year.

Swiatek said the thigh problem had persisted for several weeks and that she needed time to recover. The same injury affected her defeat by fellow Pole Maja Chwalinska in last week’s Wuhan semifinals, according to the WTA.

The decision also closes her attempt to reach the season-ending WTA Finals. She had remained in contention for the last singles berth before withdrawing from Ningbo, where she was seeded second. Alternate Anastasia Zakharova took her place in the draw.

Swiatek finishes the year with a 39–15 record and the Toronto title. In her statement, she described a demanding season while expressing confidence in the progress made during its second half. She plans a longer period of rest to recover fully; the announcement did not specify a return tournament.
