The Cleveland Guardians will open the American League Championship Series against the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field on Monday, October 12, after completing their Division Series comeback on Saturday.

Game 1 is scheduled for 8 p.m. Eastern, 6 p.m. Mountain, with U.S. coverage on TBS, truTV and HBO Max.

Tampa Bay swept the Yankees and enters the round with additional rest. Cleveland needed five games against the White Sox after falling behind 0-2.

Starting pitchers still await confirmation

MLB.com’s Sunday preview listed Cleveland’s starter as undecided and Drew Rasmussen as Tampa Bay’s likely choice. The Rays had not formally set their rotation.

Gavin Williams started Cleveland’s clinching game on Saturday. Rasmussen, meanwhile, carried a no-hit bid into the eighth inning of his ALDS start against New York.

The Rays won five of six meetings with Cleveland during the regular season, but three were decided by one run. That record gives Tampa Bay the season-series advantage while also showing how narrow several of the results were.

The winner of the best-of-seven series advances to the World Series.
