England face world champions Spain in Nations League return
Saturday’s Wembley opener brings England back to League A against the team that beat them in the Euro 2024 final, with kickoff at 7:45 p.m. London time.

England’s return to the Nations League’s top division begins against Spain at Wembley on Saturday, September 26, bringing an immediate test against the reigning world champions. The Group A3 opener also revisits the matchup from the Euro 2024 final.
Spain won that final 2-1 in Berlin, while England subsequently earned promotion from League B in the 2024-25 Nations League. Thomas Tuchel’s side now shares its group with Spain, Croatia and Czechia.
The opening fixture will establish an early position in a six-match league phase that runs into November. England must show it can translate promotion into results against stronger opposition, beginning with a Spain team that finished runner-up in the previous Nations League.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. in London, equivalent to 2:45 p.m. Eastern. England then travel to face Czechia on September 29, continuing a window that includes four Nations League fixtures.
