Charlotte Hornets guard Coby White will miss the entire preseason after suffering a left calf strain during training camp, the team announced Monday.

The Hornets have not confirmed whether White will be available for their regular-season opener. The team said further updates would be provided as more becomes known about the injury.

White averaged 15.6 points in 21 games with Charlotte last season after arriving from Chicago in February. He had been expected to take over at point guard following LaMelo Ball’s offseason trade to Minnesota, The Associated Press reported.

Charlotte opens its preseason at home against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday at 5 p.m. Mountain Time. Kon Knueppel and Grant Williams are also missing the exhibition schedule with hamstring injuries.
