Bachmeier Wins Davey O’Brien Weekly Award After Notre Dame Upset
The BYU quarterback accounted for touchdowns three different ways on Saturday.

BYU quarterback Bear Bachmeier was named the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week on Tuesday for his performance in Saturday’s 28-24 victory over Notre Dame, the university announced. The award recognizes that game rather than naming the season’s overall quarterback winner.
Bachmeier completed 23 of 36 passes for 224 yards and a touchdown. He added 45 rushing yards and two touchdowns, and caught a pass for another score. BYU said he became its first quarterback with a passing, rushing and receiving touchdown in one game since Steve Young against Missouri in the 1983 Holiday Bowl.
The weekly honor follows his selection Monday as the Associated Press National Player of the Week and Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week. He was also included in the Davey O’Brien Great 8.
Through six games, Bachmeier has thrown for 1,257 yards and nine touchdowns while rushing for 284 yards and six scores. No. 2 BYU next visits UCF on Saturday, October 24, with kickoff at 1:30 p.m. MDT on FOX.
