Marvin Harrison Jr. will sit out Arizona’s game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, October 11, with the Cardinals placing him on their official inactive list while a reported trade remains pending.
Arizona’s team website said the receiver is expected to be traded in the coming days. It did not announce a completed deal or identify the team acquiring him.
The designation follows Saturday’s reporting from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Arizona was finalizing a move. TSP’s initial report covered those discussions before Sunday’s inactive list was released.
Houston’s role remains uncertain
NFL Network reported that the Cardinals had sought a second-round draft pick and additional compensation, and that Houston had held trade discussions involving Harrison. Those reports did not establish the Texans as the destination.
FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer reported Sunday that Houston had pulled back in the talks. The Texans remain an unconfirmed destination.
A move to Houston would reunite Harrison with his former Ohio State quarterback, C.J. Stroud. Until a deal is announced, that remains a possible outcome rather than a confirmed reunion.
Arizona changes its receiving group
Kendrick Bourne is expected to work as the second receiver behind Michael Wilson, according to the Cardinals. Rookie Reggie Virgil is active for the first time, giving Arizona another option with Harrison unavailable.
Harrison has five receptions for 85 yards and one touchdown through four games this season. The Cardinals selected him fourth overall in the 2024 draft; his NFL career totals stand at 108 catches for 1,578 yards and 13 touchdowns in 33 games.
For fantasy managers, Sunday’s decision is settled: Harrison is inactive and must be replaced in any lineup that still allows a change. His next playing opportunity will depend on how the trade discussions are resolved.
