Cristiano Ronaldo has been provisionally suspended by the Portuguese Football Federation after leaving the national-team camp during a dispute with coach Jorge Jesus.

The federation initiated disciplinary proceedings October 9 and gave the case urgent status, according to a statement reported by Sky Sports. The proceedings were referred to its disciplinary instruction committee the following day.

Ronaldo had been an unused substitute against Norway. He accused Jesus of failing to honour commitments about his role and apologised for leaving the squad. Jesus has denied that such an agreement was made.

The 41-year-old has said he remains available to represent Portugal after serving any punishment. He has not announced his retirement from international football.

The provisional measure does not establish the outcome of the disciplinary process or the length of any final sanction. Those decisions remain unresolved in the reporting available for this draft.

Ronaldo’s dispute concerns his national-team involvement. The reports do not establish a new prohibition on playing for Al-Nassr.
