Grizzlies’ Isaiah Stewart sidelined by ankle sprain, reevaluation set for two weeks
The Memphis big man injured his left ankle in the opening quarter of a preseason game against Atlanta.

Isaiah Stewart will be reevaluated in two weeks after suffering a moderate left ankle sprain, leaving the Memphis Grizzlies without the big man as the regular season approaches.
Stewart was injured in the first quarter of the October 5 preseason game at Atlanta. Hoops Rumors reported the team’s update Friday.
Memphis opens its regular season October 21. The reevaluation schedule extends beyond that opener, but it is a medical checkpoint rather than a guaranteed return date.
The Grizzlies acquired Stewart from Detroit in an offseason six-team trade. He averaged 10.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in 58 appearances last season, with 1.6 blocks per game.
His absence leaves Memphis to distribute frontcourt minutes among its other available players. Cameron Boozer and Zach Edey are among the options, along with Quinten Post and Taylor Hendricks.
The update does not establish a replacement starter or a fixed rotation. Those decisions will depend on the remaining preseason work and the players available when the season begins.
