BREAKING: Lane Johnson announces retirement after 14 seasons with Eagles
The six-time Pro Bowl right tackle ends his career with two Super Bowl titles. Rookie Markel Bell is in line to replace him in Philadelphia’s next game.

Philadelphia Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson announced his retirement Tuesday, October 6, ending his NFL career during his 14th season. The team confirmed the decision in its official announcement.
Johnson, 36, spent his entire NFL career in Philadelphia after the Eagles selected him fourth overall out of Oklahoma in the 2013 draft. He won Super Bowls LII and LIX, earned six Pro Bowl selections and received five Associated Press All-Pro honors.
“Lane Johnson is an all-time Eagle,” Eagles chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie said in the team’s statement.
The Eagles’ official career record lists 171 regular-season appearances, all starts. Johnson started Philadelphia’s first three games this season before missing Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams for personal reasons.
In August, Johnson said 2026 would probably be his last season, citing changing priorities as his children and parents grew older.
Rookie third-round pick Markel Bell started in Johnson’s place against the Rams. The Eagles said Bell is in line to start again Sunday against Jacksonville in London.
