Raptors give Jamal Shead a three-year, $24 million extension
Toronto has confirmed the extension. Its reported terms keep Shead under contract through 2029-30, with a team option in the final season.

The Raptors have signed Jamal Shead to a contract extension after a season in which he appeared in all 82 games and led the NBA in assists off the bench.
The team confirmed the extension Thursday. ESPN reported its value at three years and $24 million. Sportsnet’s Michael Grange reported Friday that the deal begins in 2027-28 and runs through 2029-30, with a team option in the final year.
Shead averaged 6.6 points and 5.4 assists last season, starting 12 games. His role expanded in the playoffs when Immanuel Quickley missed Toronto’s series against Cleveland. Shead started four of those seven games, according to Sportsnet’s report on the agreement.
“These guys believe in me, they believe in what I bring to the team,” Shead told Grange after Thursday’s open scrimmage in Quebec City.
Toronto acquired Shead on draft night in 2024 after he was selected 45th overall. Now entering his third NBA season, the guard has a longer contract in place while working to become a more assertive scorer. He told Grange he wants to look for his own shot more often when he gets to the rim.
