Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane scored after halftime as England beat Czechia 2–0 in Prague on Tuesday to collect their first points of the new UEFA Nations League campaign.

The hosts played with 10 men from the 25th minute, when Pavel Sulc was sent off for a challenge on Elliot Anderson. England could not score before the interval but went ahead immediately after it through Gordon’s header.

Trent Alexander-Arnold delivered the cross for the opening goal, and Gordon directed the ball toward the far post. Kane added England’s second later in the half, finishing a loose ball to complete the scoring at Fortuna Arena.

England had already threatened several times while the match was goalless. Morgan Rogers struck the post, and Czech goalkeeper Matej Kovar saved a powerful Kane attempt. A Lewis Hall cross also reached the woodwork after being diverted by Czech captain Ladislav Krejci.

Gordon has now scored in three consecutive England appearances. His latest goal followed strikes in the World Cup semi-final against Argentina and Saturday’s 3–2 Nations League defeat by Spain at Wembley.

Thomas Tuchel praised the forward’s finish and Alexander-Arnold’s delivery in his post-match comments to England Football. The coach also credited his players for increasing their intensity after halftime while retaining their effort against a reduced Czech side.

The result gives England three points from two matches in League A, Group 3. Spain leads the group with six after beating Croatia 4–1 on the same evening, following its opening victory over England.

Czechia remains without a point after losing its first two games. The home side had begun the competition with a 2–1 defeat against Croatia before Tuesday’s loss in Prague.

England’s next fixture is away to Croatia on Saturday, October 3, at Stadion HNK Rijeka. The teams are scheduled to kick off at 5 p.m. British Summer Time. England then returns to Wembley for another meeting with Czechia on Tuesday, October 6.
