Stützle Says Ottawa’s Win Was No Message to Brady Tkachuk

“There’s no message. We just play our game. Doesn’t matter who we play,” Tim Stützle said after Ottawa beat Florida 5–1 on October 21.

Stützle was answering a reporter who asked whether the game had sent a message to Brady Tkachuk, the former Senators captain returning to Ottawa as a Panther. In the Senators’ released postgame clip, he kept his assessment focused on Ottawa’s play.

The Senators fell behind on Tkachuk’s first-period power-play goal, then scored five unanswered goals at Canadian Tire Centre. Stützle tied the game and later assisted on Stephen Halliday’s third-period goal. Claude Giroux scored the go-ahead goal in the second.

Asked how Ottawa handled the emotions of the night, Giroux said “guys were just focused on getting the win and making sure we play hard.”

Ottawa next hosts San Jose on October 22 at 5 p.m. MDT.
