Timberwolves Confirm Jaden McDaniels Extension; Terms Reported at $40 Million

Minnesota confirmed the signing without releasing terms. The reported one-year extension adds the 2029–30 season.

The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Tuesday that they have signed Jaden McDaniels to a contract extension. The team did not disclose the terms in its October 20 announcement.

NBA.com reported a one-year, $40 million agreement running through the 2029–30 season. That financial figure is reported information, rather than a number supplied in Minnesota’s announcement.

One of McDaniels’ agents, Nima Namakian, confirmed the extension to The Associated Press, which said the forward had three seasons remaining on his previous contract. The additional year extends the relationship beyond that existing commitment.

McDaniels started all 73 games he played in 2025–26. He averaged 14.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists, shooting 51.5% from the field and 41.2% from three-point range. His scoring average and three-point percentage were career highs.

The 26-year-old has spent his NBA career with Minnesota since arriving through draft-night transactions in 2020. His All-Defensive second-team selection in 2023–24 preceded the improved scoring and shooting he supplied last season.
