AJ Dybantsa Ruled Out of Wizards’ Opener With Left Ankle Sprain
Washington’s No. 1 pick will wait for his regular-season debut. The latest checked NBA report lists him out against Milwaukee.

AJ Dybantsa is out of Washington’s season opener against Milwaukee on Wednesday with a left ankle sprain, according to the NBA’s October 21 injury report. The No. 1 draft pick’s regular-season debut will have to wait.
Coach Brian Keefe considers the injury day-to-day, NBA.com reported Tuesday. That assessment does not establish a return date beyond the confirmed absence against the Bucks.
Washington also listed Tristan Vukcevic out with left hip impingement and Jamir Watkins out following left ACL repair surgery in the 1 p.m. ET report. Milwaukee listed Nate Ament probable with a left ankle sprain.
The game at Capital One Arena is scheduled for 5 p.m. MDT. It begins a season in which Washington is bringing Trae Young and Anthony Davis together with its younger players, including Dybantsa.
Dybantsa’s absence postpones one of opening night’s anticipated debuts. Keefe’s day-to-day assessment leaves his status for later games unsettled, without announcing when he will be back.
