Texas will enter the women’s basketball season ranked No. 6 in the Associated Press preseason poll, the university announced Tuesday. It is the Longhorns’ third consecutive preseason top-10 selection and their fourth in the past five years.

Madison Booker returns for her senior season after three first-team All-America selections and three Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year awards. Texas also brings back starter Breya Cunningham, who scored in double figures in 10 games last season and shot better than 59% from the field.

The Longhorns reached the Final Four in both 2025 and 2026. They have also won either a conference regular-season title or conference tournament championship in each of the past five seasons.

Texas lists five freshmen in its incoming class, alongside transfers Zya Vann from Oklahoma and Jada Bediako from Marquette. The team also signed Jayda Clark from Australia. Texas opens the regular season against FDU on November 4 at Moody Center.
