The Chicago White Sox will use left-hander Sean Newcomb as their opener against the Cleveland Guardians in ALDS Game 3 on Wednesday, October 7, manager Will Venable confirmed Tuesday.
Chicago leads the series 2-0 and can advance to the American League Championship Series with a victory. The game at Rate Field begins at 2 p.m. Mountain Time.
Newcomb pitched two innings in Monday’s 4-3 Game 2 win, following opener Anthony Kay. The White Sox had not announced which pitchers would follow Newcomb in Game 3. Venable said the lack of an off-day afterward could change which arms were available.
