What Mercedes-Benz Gets From the WTA’s Biggest Sponsorship Deal

The partnership puts Mercedes-Benz in the tour’s name, on net posts and inside tournament operations. Its public terms describe the commercial package without disclosing a price.

Mercedes-Benz’s WTA partnership buys a presence across women’s tennis rather than a logo at one tournament. Beginning in 2026, the company became the tour’s Premier Partner and Exclusive Automobile Partner, with its name attached to the competition as the WTA Tour Driven by Mercedes-Benz.

The WTA called it the largest sponsorship deal in its history. Its announcement describes a long-term agreement, but does not disclose a contract value, annual rights fee or precise end date. The public evidence establishes the package and its reach, rather than a dollar valuation.

The deal reaches beyond television signage

The December 2025 announcement identified WTA Ventures, the tour’s commercial arm, as the party that agreed the partnership. Wasserman acted as sales agent through its U.S. Rights Sales team, with additional support from IMG.

Mercedes-Benz’s designated automobile category and Premier Partner status are different commercial benefits. The former identifies the product category in which the company is the exclusive partner. The latter gives it a broader place in the tour’s commercial identity, including the season’s name.

Net-post signs supply a recurring court-level presence. The company’s vehicles also serve players, officials and guests. That places the brand inside tournament operations as well as in the images spectators see from the stands and on broadcasts.

What the 2026 rollout looked like

The WTA’s February rollout notice said the Mercedes star would first appear on net posts in Abu Dhabi and Ostrava, with a presence planned at more than 30 tournaments in 2026. The partnership covers WTA 1000, 500 and 250 events, rather than only the tour’s largest stops.

Madrid supplied a more elaborate example in April. More than 600 oversized tennis balls formed the WTA logo and Mercedes star on Centre Court at the Caja Mágica. The event also included vehicle displays and a shuttle fleet, according to the WTA’s account of the installation.

Those activities show what a sponsor does with its rights after signing the agreement. A court installation, transport service and display area are distinct ways of putting the partnership in front of players, visitors and audiences.

What the announcement does not tell us

The disclosed package does not identify how much of the sponsorship income reaches individual players, or establish a specific increase in prize money. A tour-wide sponsorship and a player’s personal endorsement contract also are separate arrangements.

The commercial proposition is visible: season-long identification, tournament access and automobile exclusivity across a global circuit. Assessing the financial return would require information absent from the announcement, including the fee paid and measurable business generated. The WTA’s description of the deal’s importance should therefore remain attributed to the tour.
