Star Wars Funday Football Announced for Super Bowl LXI
Disney’s halftime reveal introduced a real-time animated Super Bowl broadcast, with Anthony Daniels returning as the voice of C-3PO.

Star Wars Funday Football will bring a real-time animated presentation to Super Bowl LXI on February 14, 2027, ESPN, Lucasfilm and the NFL announced Monday night.
The alternate broadcast will stream on Disney+ and the ESPN App and air on Disney Channel and Disney XD. Every play will be recreated through animation, with player avatars and Star Wars characters taking part at key moments. Anthony Daniels will voice C-3PO.
The reveal came during halftime of Monday Night Football’s October 19 game between the Washington Commanders and San Francisco 49ers. It will be the first animated Super Bowl presentation.
The production will use NFL Next Gen Stats, Sony’s Hawk-Eye Innovations and Beyond Sports technology. It follows previous Funday Football broadcasts featuring Toy Story in 2023, The Simpsons in 2024 and Monsters, Inc. in 2025.
Super Bowl LXI will be played at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The traditional ESPN and ABC presentation will also be available on Disney+. ESPN will produce its first Super Bowl, while ABC will carry the game for the first time since 2006.
Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly said the Super Bowl halftime performer would be revealed. The announcement introduced Star Wars Funday Football, an animated Super Bowl broadcast.
