Ohtani Plans to Pitch in 2027 After Injury-Limited Season
Shohei Ohtani intends to return to the mound next season after knee and biceps problems ended his pitching work in July.

Shohei Ohtani plans to pitch for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2027 after injuries kept him off the mound during the final three months of this season.
Ohtani confirmed his intention to reporters after Milwaukee eliminated Los Angeles in the National League Championship Series on Thursday. The Dodgers lost Game 4, 6–4, and were swept in four games.
The 32-year-old last pitched July 3. Left knee inflammation and a right biceps problem disrupted his season, although he continued to contribute as a designated hitter. He hit a three-run homer in the Dodgers’ final game.
Before the shutdown, Ohtani went 8–2 with a 1.79 ERA and 95 strikeouts in 14 starts. His postseason batting average was .162, with one home run and three RBIs.
Ohtani said he remained dissatisfied with the way his pitching season ended. He plans to reassess his treatment and training during the offseason as he prepares to resume both parts of his job.
