Tate Sandell kicked a 47-yard field goal on the final play as Oklahoma defeated top-ranked Texas 27–24 in the Red River rivalry game Saturday in Dallas.

The Sooners improved to 3–2 overall and 1–1 in the Southeastern Conference. Texas fell to 4–1 and 1–1 after a game in which quarterback Arch Manning threw three touchdown passes but also two costly interceptions.

The decisive sequence began when Omarion Robinson intercepted Manning with 19 seconds remaining. Oklahoma took over at its own 39-yard line, and John Mateer completed passes of 13 and 20 yards to Isaiah Sategna to put Sandell in range.

Texas had missed an earlier opportunity when Gianni Spetic’s 53-yard field-goal attempt went wide right with 1:55 left, according to the AP recap and Oklahoma game statistics.

Oklahoma scored touchdowns on defense and special teams while overcoming a 382–238 disadvantage in total yards.

It was the Sooners’ first victory over a No. 1 team since beating Missouri in 2007. Oklahoma is scheduled to host Kentucky on October 17.
