Oilers Place Devon Levi on IR As Mattias Ekholm Also Misses Leafs Game
Edmonton recalled Matt Tomkins, with Tristan Jarry already scheduled to start Saturday against Toronto.

The Edmonton Oilers placed Devon Levi on injured reserve Friday and will also be without defenseman Mattias Ekholm when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.
Levi finished Thursday’s 6-5 shootout victory over Carolina but missed Friday’s skate. Edmonton recalled Matt Tomkins from Bakersfield on an emergency basis, according to the Oilers’ Friday report. The club did not identify Levi’s injury in that report.
Tristan Jarry was already scheduled to start against Toronto before the change in Levi’s status. The goalie move therefore changes Edmonton’s available depth rather than establishing a new starting assignment for Saturday.
Ekholm left the Carolina game with an upper-body injury after his head struck the ice following a hit by William Carrier. He is expected to miss games. Shakir Mukhamadullin practiced alongside Evan Bouchard in Ekholm’s place, although Edmonton had not finalized its defensive pairings in Friday’s report.
The Oilers host Toronto at Rogers Place at 5 p.m. MDT Saturday. Levi’s placement on injured reserve confirms he is unavailable; the announcement does not establish a specific return date. Edmonton’s report likewise did not provide a confirmed return game for Ekholm.
