Asked how the finish unfolded after Buffalo received another opportunity, Allen credited the defense and kicking units.

“Special teams was big tonight,” he said.

Greg Rousseau blocked Harrison Mevis’ potential winning 48-yard field goal after James Cook’s fumble had ended Buffalo’s opening overtime possession. Allen then gained 19 and 13 yards on consecutive runs before Tyler Bass made the winning 45-yard kick.

When asked about his rushing, Allen said the Rams’ defense had left opportunities in the scramble game. He described trying to extend plays and credited his teammates for getting open as he moved.

Cook finished with 111 rushing yards and two touchdowns. His five-yard score with 1:39 left in regulation put Buffalo ahead 34–27, before Kyren Williams’ one-yard touchdown run forced overtime.

Khalil Shakir caught all three of his targets for 80 yards, including a 57-yard gain on Buffalo’s first overtime drive. Ty Johnson added four catches for 72 yards, and Keon Coleman caught Allen’s seven-yard touchdown pass.

Allen said Buffalo still had things to clean up, but welcomed the result. The Bills improved to 4–1 with his first overtime win as an NFL starting quarterback.
