Hawks acquire Dorian Finney-Smith from Hornets for Hield and Nembhard

Atlanta adds a veteran forward while the Hornets receive two guards and cash in a trade announced shortly before training camp.

The Hawks acquired Dorian Finney-Smith from Charlotte in a trade announced September 22, sending Buddy Hield, Ryan Nembhard and cash to the Hornets.

Atlanta adds a veteran forward shortly before training camp, while Charlotte takes back two guards. Finney-Smith had moved from Houston to the Hornets earlier in the offseason and now changes teams again before the regular season.

Finney-Smith averaged 3.3 points in 37 games for Houston last season. Atlanta is taking on a player with substantial experience defending on the wing, but his limited production last year is part of the assessment too.

For Nembhard, the deal means another move before his second NBA season. The Canadian guard had already been traded from Dallas to Atlanta during the summer, and now has to establish his place with Charlotte.
