The New York Giants and Washington Commanders finished tied 27-27 on Sunday, October 11, after each team wasted a chance to win in overtime at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland.

It was the NFL season’s first tie. New York moved to 3-1-1 and Washington to 1-3-1, according to Field Level Media’s game report.

Washington’s final possession reached the Giants’ 24-yard line. With no timeouts and 12 seconds remaining, Jayden Daniels ran on second down. The Commanders could not line up to spike the ball before time expired, leaving them without a field-goal attempt.

New York had already lost an overtime opportunity. Rookie kicker Dominic Zvada missed from 46 yards on the opening possession of the extra period. On a later drive, Cam Skattebo fumbled at Washington’s 24; Daron Payne forced the turnover and Shy Tuttle recovered, the Giants reported.

Jameis Winston had brought New York back from a 27-13 deficit in the fourth quarter. He found Isaiah Likely for a 17-yard touchdown, then connected with Malik Nabers from the same distance to tie the game with 1:43 left in regulation.

Winston finished with 326 passing yards and three touchdowns. Likely caught 11 passes for 94 yards and two scores, while Nabers had 11 receptions for 121 yards and a touchdown.

Daniels returned after missing two games with a dislocated left elbow. He passed for 199 yards and ran for 103 yards and two touchdowns.
