FIFA has ordered a review of its Peace Prize following Thursday’s council meeting in Zurich, with a decision scheduled for the next meeting in December 2026.

The governing body’s October 15 council statement says its Football Social Responsibility Committee has been tasked with assessing the award. It does not announce that the prize has been cancelled or that a replacement recipient has been chosen.

Donald Trump received the inaugural prize at the men’s World Cup draw in December 2025. The award’s future will now return to FIFA’s council after the committee’s assessment.

The council also established a working group with members from across the confederations to examine FIFA’s governance framework. The organisation did not publish a final reform package in its account of the meeting.

The decisions came at a meeting where president Gianni Infantino apologised for mistakes in the handling and communication of the FIFA Forward Enterprise proposal. FIFA said that initiative has been permanently withdrawn.
