Darius Taylor listed probable for Minnesota’s Big Ten opener

The Gophers could regain Taylor, Matt Kingsbury and Aidan Gousby against Washington, while center Ashton Beers remains questionable.

Minnesota listed running back Darius Taylor as probable for Saturday’s Big Ten opener at Washington, a potential boost after he missed the Gophers’ 41-7 win over Akron. The designation appeared on Wednesday’s availability report.

Linebacker Matt Kingsbury and safety Aidan Gousby also were listed as probable after missing the Akron game. Starting center Ashton Beers was questionable following an injury that briefly forced him out of that contest.

Taylor has 78 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries this season, along with four catches for 36 yards. His possible return would add an experienced option as Minnesota begins conference play.

Beers’ status matters separately because the Gophers had to move left guard Greg Johnson to center when he left last week’s game. Probable is an encouraging designation, but Minnesota’s later reports and final availability will determine who actually takes the field.
