Champions League Ratings in the U.S. and Canada: What Is Publicly Reported

UNIMÁS disclosed 2.7 million people reached across six opening-week matches. Current Canadian distribution is confirmed, but a comparable match audience remains unverified.

Champions League audience reporting in the United States and Canada currently offers an incomplete picture of the 2026–27 season. TelevisaUnivision has disclosed a U.S. audience of 2.7 million people reached across six opening-week matches on UNIMÁS. A comparable Canadian match audience has not been verified in the public sources checked for this report.

The distinction begins with what the American figure measures. TelevisaUnivision’s October 5 release describes reach, with its source note setting a minimum viewing qualifier of one minute. That identifies people who watched some of the coverage across the six matches. It does not establish the average audience throughout any individual game.

Dividing 2.7 million by six would therefore create a misleading per-match estimate. Reach and average audience have different denominators, and a viewer could watch more than one fixture. The release also does not enumerate the six match dates; it presents opening-week coverage within its September reporting window.

The United States: one disclosed measure, several outlets

UNIMÁS is only part of the American distribution picture. UEFA’s current broadcast-partner list names Paramount+, TUDN and DAZN for the United States. The 2.7 million disclosure specifically concerns UNIMÁS, so it cannot stand in for the competition’s total U.S. audience or the combined audiences of those other services.

The checked Paramount/CBS and broadcaster material did not establish a comparable current-season individual-match average for this report. Spring final figures belong to the previous season and a different stage of the competition; using them as autumn results would conceal the period being measured.

Canada: coverage is confirmed, audience totals remain unresolved

UEFA lists DAZN and OneSoccer as Canadian broadcast partners for the 2026–27 competition. DAZN’s rights announcement separately covers the cycle through 2026–27. Those sources establish distribution, while the checked DAZN releases supplied no verified Canadian audience for an autumn Champions League match.

Numeris describes its National VAM service as combining Canadian television and streaming measurement. Its public overview does not provide a Champions League match table or establish which of these matches have program-level results available. The absence of a number in that material supports an unavailable entry, without assigning Canada an audience of zero.

A meaningful country comparison needs the same fixtures, reporting periods and audience definitions on both sides of the border. For now, the published UNIMÁS reach figure supplies evidence about one American outlet, while the Canadian audience remains an identified reporting gap. These records cannot establish which country is watching more or whether either rights package is succeeding financially.
