Canada’s Parminder Pannu and Josh Ofori secured semifinal places and guaranteed medals Tuesday at the Panamerican Boxing Championships in Puebla, Mexico, according to World Boxing’s report published Wednesday.

Pannu defeated Mexico’s Hugo Padilla by a 4–1 judges’ decision in the men’s 75-kilogram quarterfinal. Ofori advanced in the men’s 80-kilogram division with a unanimous 5–0 decision over Puerto Rico’s Eliezer Brito.

They were among 13 boxers to secure medals and semifinal places on the competition’s third day. The program included 25 bouts across two sessions, combining preliminary contests in the women’s and men’s 65-kilogram divisions with quarterfinals in four other weight classes.

In the women’s 57-kilogram quarterfinals, American Alyssa Mendoza beat Mexico’s Guadalupe Torres 5–0. Fellow American Isabella Winkler stopped Puerto Rico’s Stephanie Pineiro in the second round at 70 kilograms. Canada’s Victoria Vergos and Maeva Montemiglio were eliminated in those respective divisions.

World Boxing says every bout is streamed through World Boxing TV in English and Panam Sports Channel in Spanish. The account covers Tuesday’s completed action.
