Arniel credits Jets’ defense after 3–2 win over Avalanche
Winnipeg’s coach explains the work around five defensemen after Josh Morrissey left early, and the collective matchup against Colorado’s top players.

“It has to be a group effort,” Winnipeg coach Scott Arniel said after the Jets’ 3–2 win over Colorado on October 7.
Asked about matching Nathan MacKinnon and Colorado’s top players, Arniel said changing Avalanche lines required several Winnipeg units to take turns against them. He said the Jets worked to keep chances outside the middle of the ice.
When Winnipeg lost Josh Morrissey early, Arniel said the forwards had to help the five remaining defensemen: “they gotta make sure that they’re helping those guys, working to get back for the breakouts.”
Arniel said Morrissey had an upper-body injury and would be checked again Thursday. Stuart Skinner made 32 saves in Winnipeg’s 3–2 win.
