Everton explores sale of controlling stake less than two years after takeover
The Friedkin Group retains Moelis to examine investment options, including a possible controlling-interest sale.

Everton’s owner, The Friedkin Group, is exploring investment options that include a potential sale of a controlling interest in the Premier League club, Everton announced Friday.
Moelis & Company has been retained to assist with the process. The announcement comes less than two years after Friedkin acquired Everton in December 2024 during a period of financial uncertainty.
The club said the ownership group’s initial priority was to stabilize its finances, provide investment and support completion of its new stadium. It now intends to consider investors it believes could build on that foundation.
No buyer, agreed price or completed sale was announced. Everton said the group would continue supporting the club and its community work while the process proceeds and would not comment further during that work.
Front Office Sports reported that a controlling-stake sale would not necessarily mean Friedkin’s complete departure. That report was attributed to a person familiar with the matter, rather than a disclosed transaction agreement.
