Nashville adds the 25-year-old defenseman; Montreal receives a second-round selection.

The Nashville Predators acquired defenseman Jayden Struble from the Montreal Canadiens on Friday in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft.
Struble, 25, was in his fourth season with Montreal. He had no points through three games this season while averaging 12:05 of ice time, according to the NHL’s trade report.
He has seven goals and 28 assists in 174 regular-season appearances, along with 14 Stanley Cup Playoff games. Montreal selected him 46th overall in the second round of the 2019 draft.
Struble is in the second season of a two-year contract signed on July 28, 2025. The deal totals $2.825 million, with an average annual value of $1.4125 million.
Predators general manager Chris MacFarland described Struble as a physical, mobile defender and said Nashville wanted to continue developing his game. The league’s official trade tracker lists the exchange as completed; the return announced for Montreal is the 2027 second-round selection.
