Paul Maurice said Friday that Marchand will spend three weeks off the ice followed by another three weeks of rehabilitation.

Brad Marchand will be out six weeks with a lower-body injury, Florida Panthers coach Paul Maurice said Friday, providing a recovery timetable after the forward left Tuesday’s game against the Los Angeles Kings.

“Three weeks he will be back on the ice, another three to rehab,” Maurice said after practice in Fort Lauderdale, according to NHL.com.

Marchand was hurt late in the second period of Florida’s 2-1 win at Los Angeles. Kings defenseman Brandt Clarke high-sticked him as he drove toward the net, and Marchand collided with the right post. He needed help leaving the ice and did not return.

The 38-year-old had played only two games this season after missing Florida’s first two while recovering from offseason surgery for an unspecified injury. He scored in his season debut against Anaheim on October 4.

Florida is also without captain Aleksander Barkov, who is expected to miss six to eight weeks with a lower-body injury. Maurice’s Friday update establishes Marchand’s expected absence but does not name a specific return game.
