Sanderson to miss Boston and Detroit games after injury in Toronto
Ottawa coach Travis Green ruled the defenseman out for the rest of the road trip. Sanderson returned home for testing after leaving Saturday’s opener.

Jake Sanderson will miss Ottawa’s games at Boston on Monday and Detroit on Tuesday after leaving Saturday’s season-opening win at Toronto with an undisclosed injury, Senators coach Travis Green said Monday.
The defenseman returned to Ottawa for testing rather than traveling with the team to Boston, according to NHL.com’s October 5 status report. Green ruled him out for the remainder of the trip but did not announce a return date.
Sanderson left the 3-2 win over the Maple Leafs at 12:45 of the first period after playing 4:29 over six shifts. He had missed part of training camp with an undisclosed injury before returning for the opener.
Ottawa faces the Bruins at 5:30 p.m. Mountain Time on Monday, then finishes the three-game road trip in Detroit on October 6. The Senators’ home opener is Thursday against Philadelphia.
