Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury came face to face in London on Wednesday at the first press conference for their December 11 heavyweight fight at Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

The two former heavyweight champions have never met in a professional bout. Their scheduled contest will stream worldwide on Netflix, which has previously carried fights involving both boxers.

Fury said he intended to engage Joshua directly when they meet in the ring. Joshua emphasized his conditioning and preparation, saying he wanted to be ready to compete from the opening minute through the end of the fight.

“I’ll be a great dance partner for him,” Joshua said, according to Netflix’s account of the press conference.

The fighters also revisited an old sparring session from Joshua’s amateur career. Each gave his own version of what happened, with Joshua saying Fury left with a black eye. Those competing recollections concerned a gym session rather than an official contest between the pair.

Joshua said he was speaking with Peter Fury, the uncle who trained Tyson for his 2015 world-title victory over Wladimir Klitschko.

The press conference took place at British Airways ARC at Olympia after uncertainty over whether the event would go ahead. Sky Sports reported before the conference that an agreement had been reached for the two fighters to appear.

Fury enters the scheduled bout with a professional record of 36–2–1, including 25 knockouts. Joshua’s record is 30–4, with 27 victories inside the distance.

Both men have already appeared in Netflix boxing events. Joshua stopped Jake Paul in December 2025, while Fury beat Arslanbek Makhmudov by unanimous decision in April 2026.

The Cardiff event is set for Friday, December 11. Netflix says its members will be able to watch without an additional charge, but the broadcaster has not yet supplied the final start time or complete undercard.

Further bouts and broadcast timings remain to be announced before the two British heavyweights meet for their first professional fight.
