Jeff Levering Wears Bob Uecker’s Tonight Show Jacket for World Series Tribute
Levering wore Uecker’s jacket on MLB Central and described a planned radio-booth tribute before Milwaukee’s World Series opener.
Jeff Levering brought one of Bob Uecker’s signature jackets to Friday’s MLB Central broadcast, wearing a piece of the late announcer’s television history before the Brewers opened the World Series against Tampa Bay.
The Brewers broadcaster said the colorful jacket had been worn by Uecker on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. “You can’t go two steps without thinking about Ueck in this city,” Levering said, according to MLB.com’s report.
Speaking before Game 1, Levering said he and three others in Milwaukee’s radio booth planned to wear jackets from Uecker’s wardrobe at American Family Field.
Uecker died in 2025 at 90 after more than five decades behind the Brewers’ microphone. Levering had already honored him during Milwaukee’s pennant-clinching call, which sent the club to its first World Series in 44 years.
Levering joined the Brewers in January 2015. The club’s official broadcaster biography lists 2026 as his 12th season with the organization and his sixth year calling television games while continuing to work radio.
