Kucherov and Stamkos each had 1,137 points, according to the NHL’s October 23 report. This is a dated leaderboard; it excludes that evening’s game and any later results.

What counts toward the franchise record?

Points are goals plus assists. These totals include NHL regular-season games played for Tampa Bay. They exclude playoff scoring and points earned for other franchises, so a player’s Lightning total can differ substantially from his full NHL career total.

That distinction matters when comparing players who moved between teams. Stamkos’s Tampa Bay record is fixed at his Lightning total. Additional points for another club do not change that figure. Kucherov’s total can continue to increase through games played for Tampa Bay.

The same scope applies throughout the table. Martin St. Louis is third with 953 Lightning points, followed by Vincent Lecavalier with 874. Victor Hedman ranks fifth with 815 and Brayden Point sixth with 691 at this cutoff. Brad Richards, Alex Killorn, Ondrej Palat and Vinny Prospal complete the top 10.

Why the goal and assist leaders differ

Stamkos has more Lightning goals than anyone else in this top 10, with 555. Kucherov’s 405 goals and 732 assists bring him to the same points total through a different scoring balance. His assists exceed those of every other player listed.

Hedman’s 641 assists place him ahead of Stamkos in that category despite a lower overall points total. Lecavalier has more goals than St. Louis, but St. Louis has more points because of his larger assist total. A list ordered by points therefore answers a different question from a list ordered only by goals.

Games played and scoring pace

Kucherov reached this snapshot in 888 Lightning games, compared with Stamkos’s 1,082. Dividing points by games gives approximately 1.28 points per game for Kucherov and 1.05 for Stamkos. Those are career rates within the franchise at the declared cutoff, not projections for future seasons.

Games played adds context to the standings, but the franchise points record is an accumulated total. The table orders players by that total. It does not adjust for era, position, ice time or the strength of teammates.

For current fixtures and broadcast information, consult the NHL viewing guide. A result from a later game should be checked against a newly completed official statistical record before comparing it with this snapshot.
