Steelers Bring Back Marquez Valdes-Scantling to Practice Squad
Pittsburgh added the veteran receiver Tuesday after Michael Pittman Jr. and Roman Wilson went on injured reserve.

The Pittsburgh Steelers brought back Marquez Valdes-Scantling on Tuesday, October 20, signing the veteran wide receiver to their practice squad as injuries reduced their depth at the position. The team announced the signing ahead of its trip to Paris to play the New Orleans Saints.
Michael Pittman Jr. and Roman Wilson were both placed on injured reserve during the past week, according to The Associated Press report carried by ESPN. That left Pittsburgh seeking experienced options behind DK Metcalf and rookie Germie Bernard.
Valdes-Scantling, 32, played five regular-season games for Pittsburgh in 2025, making one start and catching 10 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown. He was initially on the practice squad before moving to the 53-man roster in December.
He most recently played for the Los Angeles Chargers, recording two catches for 22 yards in three games this season. He also spent time with Dallas in 2026. His latest Pittsburgh agreement is a practice-squad signing, not an announced addition to the active roster.
Valdes-Scantling also has experience with quarterback Aaron Rodgers from four seasons together in Green Bay. Follow further roster and availability news in the NFL section.
