App State Monitors Singleton Before Friday Game at Coastal Carolina

The Mountaineers list their quarterback as questionable as they try to end Coastal’s four-game winning streak in the series.

App State heads to Coastal Carolina on Friday with a quarterback question and a recent series disadvantage. Malachi Singleton was listed as questionable on the midweek availability report, with Henry Hasselbeck next on the depth chart.

The Mountaineers’ official preview schedules kickoff for 8 p.m. Eastern, 6 p.m. in Calgary, at Brooks Stadium. ESPN2 carries the game in the United States.

App State is 3-2 overall and 0-1 in Sun Belt play after a 10-3 loss to Old Dominion in difficult weather. Coastal is 2-4 and 1-1 in the conference after beating Marshall 27-21. The Chanticleers built a 27-0 lead in that game, aided by six Marshall turnovers.

Coastal has won the past four meetings and the past three played in Conway. Hasselbeck has appeared in all five App State games this season, completing six of nine passes and rushing for 105 yards. Singleton’s midweek designation is not a final ruling, so the last availability update remains important before kickoff.
