Detroit Lions linebacker Devin White needs surgery for the broken forearm he suffered in Sunday’s 45–21 win over the Arizona Cardinals, coach Dan Campbell confirmed Monday.
Campbell also indicated White could return later this season, according to RotoWire’s Monday update carried by CBS Sports, citing Richard Silva of The Detroit News. No specific return date was announced.
The Monday assessment advances Campbell’s initial postgame description, when the coach said White probably would require an operation. It does not establish that the surgery has already taken place.
White was hurt in the first half against Arizona. The game was his first appearance since Week 2, making the injury another interruption after his return to the lineup.
Malcolm Rodriguez and Trevor Nowaske shared linebacker work following his departure, Pride of Detroit reported. Rodriguez is an option for a larger role while White recovers.
The Lions improved to 3–2 with the victory. Their immediate defensive planning now includes covering White’s absence while awaiting a firmer recovery timetable.
