The Miami Dolphins confirmed at the 2026 NFL Combine that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is available via trade, with general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan stating that “everything is on the table.”¹
Tagovailoa, who turns 28 on March 2, 2026, was drafted fifth overall in 2020 and has started 76 regular-season games, compiling a 44–32 record.² Through six seasons, he has thrown for 18,214 career passing yards with 120 touchdown passes and 59 interceptions.²
In 2025, Tagovailoa appeared in 14 games and finished with 2,660 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions, posting an 88.5 passer rating.³ The 15 interceptions were his highest single-season total as Miami’s full-time starter.³
There has been no report of a trade request from Tagovailoa. Sullivan described communication with him and his representatives as professional.¹
According to OverTheCap, Tagovailoa is projected to carry a $46.2 million cap hit in 2026.⁴ A pre–June 1 release would accelerate approximately $98.7 million in prorated signing bonus and guarantees onto Miami’s 2026 salary cap.⁴ A post–June 1 designation would reduce the immediate 2026 charge to roughly $61.4 million, with the remaining dead money applied to 2027.⁴ A trade would transfer his remaining base salary obligations to the acquiring team, while Miami would remain responsible for previously prorated bonus amounts.
As of the Combine, no transaction has been completed.
