Spurs 139, Timberwolves 109
San Antonio did not let it get to a Game 7. The Spurs walked into Target Center facing an elimination Wolves team and erased the drama before halftime — a 139-109 win that closes out the series 4-2 and sends the two seed to the Western Conference Finals, where the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder host Game 1 on Monday.
Stephon Castle delivered the dagger. The young guard finished with 30 points and shot a perfect 5-for-5 from three, draining a triple every time Minnesota tried to claw back into the game. The Spurs led 56-32 in the second quarter. When the Wolves answered with a 27-11 run to cut the deficit to single digits, Castle had another bucket waiting.
Victor Wembanyama anchored both ends — scoring early, altering everything late. De'Aaron Fox briefly limped to the locker room with just over a minute left in the second quarter, but jogged back out for the third and the Spurs never trailed again. Anthony Edwards competed all night and led Minnesota for stretches, but his teammates couldn't keep pace, and the margin only grew once San Antonio cleared its bench.
So the West gets its showdown. The top-seeded Thunder await in Oklahoma City. For the Spurs, it's Wembanyama's first conference final in his first playoff run. Four nights to prepare. Game 1 Monday.
