April 16 MLB Recap: Scores, Standout Performers, and What Mattered

Mike Trout finished a four-game power binge in the Bronx, Detroit stole a wild walk-off from Kansas City, Parker Messick took a no-hit bid into the ninth, and San Diego kept rolling.

Los Angeles closed the series in the Bronx with another power display. Mike Trout homer again, giving him five home runs in the four-game set, while Jo Adell broke the game open late with a grand slam. Oswald Peraza added more damage against his former club as the Angels turned a close game into an 11-4 final.

The Yankees got solo shots from Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Ben Rice, but they could not keep pace once the Angels' middle order got loose. New York has now dropped seven of its last nine, while Los Angeles left town with a split and the American League lead in home runs.
